Stone House in Supetar, Brač Island / Architect Vinko Peračić

- in the historic centre of Supetar, surrounded by narrow stone streets and traditional houses, stands a contemporary stone house that redefines the use of stone façades in modern architecture. Designed by architect Vinko Peračić, the project perfectly demonstrates how a modern structure can harmoniously integrate into a traditional Mediterranean setting while maintaining clarity, precision and elegance. All stone works for this project were carried out by our workshop, which oversaw every stage of production and installation with meticulous attention to detail. Among all the stone elements, the stone façade stands out as a signature achievement — an original concept developed and executed entirely in our workshop. Known as the “scratched façade”, this distinctive surface finish represents an authorial technique unique to our studio. Each section of white Brač stone is finished with fine, continuous horizontal lines that create rhythm, depth and texture. The alignment of the joints is flawless, allowing the façade to appear as one continuous stone surface. The effect is subtle yet powerful — a tactile expression of light, shadow and craftsmanship. At the entrance, the façade merges with architectural elements such as stone columns, blurring the boundary between wall and structure. The transition from the exterior to the interior feels sculptural, as if the entire house were carved from a single block of stone. At the heart of this villa, the stone defines its identity — pure, contemporary and timeless. The natural stone exterioradds a sense of permanence and refinement while remaining in perfect harmony with the surrounding historical architecture. This project exemplifies how stone for villas and houses can be used innovatively, turning traditional material into a modern architectural statement of precision and beauty.
